The Veterinarian’s Fast Path
Three recordings run the whole visit
History and Vitals exist so your team can capture intake. As the doctor, you only need three recordings — and they chain together.
Physical Exam — vitals included
Record the exam as you perform it and speak the vitals inline: "Temp 101.4, pulse 96, resp 24…" No separate vitals recording — VetGeni files them from your narration.
Client Comm — the history writes itself
Record your conversation with the owner. If no history exists yet, VetGeni derives the patient history from that conversation automatically. One recording, two records.
SOAP — findings, differentials, plan
Dictate your diagnostics and findings, and your primary differential — or leave it out and VetGeni formulates the differential list itself, typically four. Add anything you discussed with the client.
The two phrases that file everything correctly
In your SOAP dictation, say “treatments in hospital” before listing what you gave in the clinic, and “medications to go home” (or “prescribed medications”) before listing what leaves with the owner. Those phrases are how VetGeni separates hospital treatments from take-home prescriptions.
“Diagnostics: parvo negative, bloodwork unremarkable. Primary differential: dietary indiscretion. Discussed supportive care with the owner. Treatments in hospital: Cerenia 1 mg/kg SQ. Medications to go home: gabapentin 100 mg capsules, one capsule PO q8–12.”
That one breath becomes the treatment sheet, the prescriptions, and the backbone of the discharge summary — on the phone or on the desktop.

Manual entry is two required fields
Only Patient Name and Species are required — breed, age, weight, sex, reproductive status, and presenting symptoms are optional. The green Create Patient button appears as soon as you start typing.
Offline in the clinic basement? The form still works — the app saves on-device and syncs the moment you reconnect.

Three things before your first patient
- The first time you tap record, your phone asks for microphone permission — allow it once and you’re set.
- Everything you create on the phone appears on your web Case Dashboard automatically — same account, same patients.
- After the patient exists, the same voice-first pattern runs the whole visit: record the history, exam, and SOAP from the Scribe tab.
